Erin Gould, 26, has her husband listed as one of her heroes on a MySpace page that appears to be hers.
Now, Cpl. Jonathan Gould, 24, is in Onslow County jail awaiting his first appearance for the attempted murder of his wife who he married Dec. 16, 2006, according to the MySpace page.
Erin Gould was airlifted early Saturday after being attacked by her husband with a hammer, according to the press release from the Onslow County Sheriff's Department. Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown said she was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was struck in the head three times, according to sources close to the investigation.
Gould is stable, John Morelli said during a phone interview Sunday. Morelli, from Ohio, said he is Erin Gould's uncle.
"As far as right now, we're hearing good things," said Morelli who has been receiving regular updates on her condition from Erin Gould's mother who is his sister. She is with her daughter at the hospital Morelli said. "(Erin) is responding good but she's not out of the woods yet,"
Morelli also confirmed that Gould is pregnant.
"As of right now she still is. I don't know what's going to happen due to all the medication that she's on. ... If it's going to cause a miscarriage or anything like that, I'm not sure," he said.
Sunday afternoon, Capt. Rick Sutherland with the Onslow County Sheriff's Department said further information will be available at a press conference being held today at 10 a.m.
Under her "mood" status on the MySpace page, Erin Gould listed herself as "scared." The last login date for the page is Friday. The Sheriff's Department received the call from Jonathan Gould at 4:17 a.m. Saturday.
"The caller, Jonathan Gould ... told deputies that someone had assaulted him when he was entering his home after returning from a late night job. Gould said that he was injured and left unconscious. When he awoke, he discovered that his wife had been severely attacked and injured," according to the Saturday press release.
Evidence, however, pointed in another direction.
"Later in the afternoon, Gould was confronted with the results of the investigation and the fact that his explanation did not match the crime scene. Gould confessed to attacking his wife and to causing her severe head trauma," according to the press release.
Jonathan Gould was charged at approximately 6 p.m.
Erin Gould is originally from Whitehall, Ohio, according to the MySpace page, and works at Convergys.
Morelli said Erin and Jonathan Gould dated all through high school and that he "never thought anything like this" could happen to his family.
"You see stuff on TV but you never think it could happen to you," he said.

"We appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers for my niece. We hope to see her make a quick recovery," he said.

| Domestic violence is on the rise and what happened to Erin Gould has to be one of the most brutal attacks ever!
What in the world was going through his mind to commit such a heinous act?
Erin is such a quiet, lovely girl, always willing to help others. She spent many good times here with our family. Her maternal grandmother is my first cousin.
I implore people to open up their hearts to help her family with any financial hardships they surely will face as Erin will remain in the hospital for a very long time.
Thanking everyone in advance, please remember Erin in your prayers! God Bless everyone. |
