A family gathering at a local residence Sunday ended in an argument with one person getting shot.
A witness told the Onslow County Sheriff's Department that after a gathering at Jose Luis Marin's home at 241 Country Squire Blvd. in Jacksonville, the witness, along with a group of others, went to at local nightclub. Ricky (Rico) Magwood, who was the designated driver of the group, took the group back to Marin's residence after the visiting the nightclub, according to a release from the Onslow County Sheriff's Department.
Upon arrival at Marin's home, an argument broke out. Marin,44, pulled a 9 MM semi automatic handgun and pointed it at those in his home. Magwood loaded up the others and got them home safely.
Once home, Magwood walked outside to use his cell phone. Marin drove by the residence in his vehicle and fired several shots. One shot hit Magwood in his left leg, he fell to the ground and crawled under a vehicle for protection, according to warrants.
Magwood was transported from Onslow Memorial Hospital to Pitt Memorial Hospital for further treatment. Marin was arrested a short time later and was placed in the Onslow County Jail. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.
Bond is set at $250,000.
