If not a tornado, maybe a preview for today?
Despite rumors of a tornado touching down in the Hubert Area early Saturday morning, the National Weather Service said it was only storms that developed hail and carried heavy winds.
"There was a number of reports of hail in the Onslow, Duplin and Carteret Area," NWS forecaster Sarah Jamison said.
However, there is the risk of a tornado advisory today.
"Our area is in the slight-to-moderate risk for severe weather and the threat does look like super cell potential," Jamison said, explaining that super cells can produce large hail, wind damage and tornadoes.
"It is looking like the best chance of the week is going to be (Sunday) afternoon," she said.
