No matches found.Longtime hospital, surgery center leader honored by foundation
The Craven Regional Medical Center Foundation has named Danny Jackson the recipient of its 2010 Health Care Award of Excellence. This award is given in recognition of those who have made a significant contribution to health care in Craven, Jones or Pamlico counties.
Three scholarships will also be given to Stefanie Zeeman, Truc Tran and Carrie Whaley at the Joseph Hageman Memorial Nursing Scholarship awards at a dinner at Carolina Colours in New Bern on Wednesday evening.
Jackson is the former administrator of the New Bern Outpatient Surgery Center and the former assistant administrator at then Craven Regional Medical Center.
This award is given in recognition of those health care professionals who are exemplary, who make the extra effort and take the extra time to bring quality health care to all in need, according to a foundation release.

Jackson was born and raised in Washington, N.C., and after graduation from high school spent some time with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He and his wife Mildred came to New Bern in 1962 when he was hired by Craven County Hospital as the purchasing agent.
In 1974, he became the assistant administrator and remained in that position until his retirement from the hospital in 1982. He was then the overseer of building the New Bern Outpatient Surgery Center and served as its administrator until his retirement.
