Czars area dangerous addition to the U.S. government
We hear the term “czar” used in relation to President Obama’s administration. I confess when I first heard the title, it meant nothing to me. As I started hearing it used more and more, I decided to find out about the czars, who they are and what they do.
What I found out shocked me, and maybe you will be too.
As of Aug. 17, the President had appointed 44 czars, and seven more positions were waiting to be filled. Each czar is paid $158,500 to $172,200 per year. Their staff has 10 people or more and this is all paid for with taxpayer money.
Most of the czars do not require Senate confirmation, but three or four do. One thing that all of them have in common is they all have to fill out applications, present financial records and disclose any background information that might prove embarrassing to the president, such as a failure to pay income taxes. For the president to say that he was shocked to learn an event in a czar’s past is disingenuous.
One other thing they have in common is their radical ideas. Let’s take a peek at just a few of the czars and you will have some idea of what the others are.
The Regulator Czar is one position that must be confirmed by the Senate. U.S. Senator Harry Reid, D-Nev., with the help of our senator, Kay Hagan, just confirmed Cass Sunstein to that position.
Sunstein could be the most dangerous man in America. He is an animal rights activist who believes that animals have the right to sue humans in court. By restricting our food production, he could cause the cost of food to skyrocket. The animal rights crowd has shut down the most productive farm land in California to protect a small fish. Drinking water is a pending issue that Sunstein can impact.
The other czars are answerable only to the president and if they are called before the congressional oversight committee, they can claim executive privilege. This is a shadow government that the U.S. Constitution does not authorize.
Mark Lloyd, the FCC Czar, admires Hugo Chavez and the systematic way that he silenced all opposition by shutting down newspapers, radio, and TV stations.
John Holdren, the Science Czar, believes in limiting children, forced abortion, forcing single mothers to give up their children for adoption and putting chemicals in drinking water for sterilization of population groups.
These are but a few of the czars this administration has placed in our government — again, without congressional approval.
