Hubert man charged with felony child abuse

A Hubert man is being held under $390,000 bond after being arrested on more than 30 charges, including second degree sexual offense.

Billy Ray Wells Jr., 42, of Hubert Boulevard, was charged Monday by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Department with eight counts of second degree sexual offense, eight counts of indecent liberties with a child, five counts of felony child abuse, eight counts of crimes against nature and eight counts of child abuse causing serious bodily injury.

Wells is accused of engaging in sexual offenses with a female and male juvenile when they were both physically helpless at the time, committing assault against a female and male juvenile that resulted in protracted impairment of their emotional function, taking indecent liberties with a male juvenile who was younger than 16, committing crimes against nature with a male juvenile, performing sexual acts on a male juvenile who was between the ages of 8 and 12 and performing sexual acts on a female juvenile who was 10-years-old, according to warrants.
