PCC fair provides ‘hope for a job seeker'
GRANTSBORO - About three dozen employers provided information Thursday about possible future jobs during Pamlico Community College's annual job fair. Many of the employers scheduled interviews with potential candidates.
Several hundred people attended the fair in the college's Ned Everett Delamar Center, said Ben Casey, the community relations and marketing coordinator.
"People are coming in dressed up," Casey said. "You can tell they are taking it very seriously."
Cindy Ista of Arapahoe, an acupuncturist, talked with Cristy Lewis, coordinator of the college's JobLink Center in Bayboro, about jobs that could provide her with supplemental income. Lewis said the job fair allowed Ista and others to learn more about opportunities.
"There is hope for a job seeker," Lewis said. "There are jobs out there."
Curtis Ormond, a representative from PCS Phosphate in Aurora, said the job fair was valuable because he made contacts for when the company hires in the future.
"Though we are not currently hiring, our presence here was very beneficial," he said.
Pamlico Community College's JobLink will continue to provide resume, interviewing and other job skills. People can call Lewis at (252) 745-9934 for more information.
