Superior court decisions

The following decisions were reached in Lenoir County superior court in January 2012. The presiding judge was the Hon. Russell Lanier, Jr.. Matters may be resolved as the result of a guilty plea or dismissal negotiated with the district attorney without a trial. Matters may also be resolved as the result of a trial during which the judge dismisses the case for insufficient evidence or renders a verdict of innocence or guilt. In any case in which a guilty plea or verdict is entered, sentencing is determined by the judge:

 

John Farris, possession of a firearm by a felon, pleaded no contest, sentenced to 10-12 months in the Department of Corrections, suspended to 36 months supervised probation.

Billy Ellison, possession of a firearm by a felon, habitual felon, guilty, sentenced to 101-131 months in the Department of Correction.

Cory Maye, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, guilty, issued prayer for judement, pre-trial conditions are the same, continued until Feb. 27.

Gloria Gonzalez, maintain dwelling, guity, sentenced to 45 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 18 months supervised probation.

Crystal Britt, maintain place, guilty, sentenced to 45 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 30 days supervised probation.

Larry Maye, possession of stolen goods, guilty, sentenced to 18-22 months in the Department of Correction.

Marque Leach, possession of a firearm by a felon, guilty, sentenced to 15-18 months in the Department of Correction. Sentenced to 79 days in the Lenoir County jail; three years probation.

Jeremy Cruse, possess marijuana, guilty, sentenced to 45 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 18 months supervised probation.

Tijuan Hicks, possession with intent to sell/distribute schedule IV, guilty, sentenced to 6-8 months in the Department of Correction.

Freddie Sanders, speed to elude, guilty, sentenced to 8-10 months in the Department of Correction. suspended to three years probation.

Alton McKnight, two counts resist public officer, pleaded no contest, sentenced to 45 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to six months unsupervised probation.
