One injured in U.S. 70 wreck

Motorcycle rider taken to LMH with injuries

Staff Writer

A Kinston man sustained minor injuries Saturday when his motorcycle collided with an SUV on U.S. 70 East.

The crash happened as Harold Winter, 44, was driving his Harley-Davidson in the westbound lanes. Elisco Brock, 32, also of Kinston, was heading east in his 2004 GMC Yukon and collided with Winter as he turned left into the Meadowbrook Car Wash parking lot.

Sgt. Ray Petrusch of the Kinston Department of Public Safety said Winter received injuries to his arms; paramedics transported the victim to Lenoir Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Petrusch said the motorcycle was "totaled." The GMC's front bumper was dented.

Brock, the driver of the SUV, was not injured. Officer Jay Burkett said he was charged with a safe moving violation.
