The Reginald L. Stroud Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to one of Kinston's outstanding historians at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at historic Harmony Hall. The ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the season's final Chamber Music concert featuring ECU graduate Deborah Nansteel accompanied by Dr. John O'Brien. Kinston/Lenoir County Parks & Recreation Department Summer activities:
• Swimming lessons for age 6-adult will be held from 9 a.m. - noon at Emma Webb Pool. Session 1 runs June 23-July 3; session 2 July 7-17; and session 3 July 21-31. The fee is $10 per participant. Registration will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday June 7 and June 14 at the pool.
• Youth Tennis clinic for ages 8-12 and 13-18 will be held at Fairfield Park Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 10-July 3; July 8-31; and Aug. 5-28. Ages 8-12 will be held from 4-5 p.m. and ages 13-18 from 5-6 p.m. The fee is $20 per child.
• Youth Fitness Classes for ages 8-15 are ongoing at Mock Gymnasium. There is no charge.
• Community Dance Program (Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Acro) for ages 3-12 will be held at Fairfield Center. The fee is $50 for 8 weeks.
• Gymnastics Camp for ages 6-14 will be held Emma Webb Gymnastic Center from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. June 23-Aug. 4. The fee is $40 per child. Summer classes will be held June 16-31 for ages 3-14; the fee is $40 per child. For more information or to register, call the Recreation Department, (252) 939-3332.

The Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library will hold a book sale from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. May 31 and 2 p.m.-6 p.m. June 1 at 510 N. Queen St. Available will be a wide variety of children's and adult materials in hardback and paperback, including fiction, nonfiction and reference books. Also available will be videos, DVDs, books on tape, CDs, encyclopedias and magazines. In addition, miscellaneous office furniture will be offered for sale.
