Sailboat's mast destroyed after clipping Neuse River Bridge

A 40-foot sailboat was delayed on its trip to Pennsylvania on Sunday night after its mast was clipped and destroyed at the Neuse River Bridge in New Bern.

Officials said the boat missed the channel. No injuries were reported.

The boat, the Wind Dreamer II, was docked in New Bern until Wednesday, when its owner cast off and sailed home.
