Pam Ladd said she has set up an account at a Goldsboro bank to accept donations in her name to raise money for the legal expenses associated with seeking custody of Soyer and Virginia Moll's daughter. Donations may be sent in Ladd’s name to Wood Forest National Bank; 102 Spence Ave.; Goldsboro, NC 27534.

The sister of a dead Hubert woman said Wednesday she wants custody of her niece since the father has been charged with murder.

Soyer Lewis Moll, 20, of Sandridge Road, was charged by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office late Tuesday night with murder in the death of his wife, 21-year-old Virginia Tillman Moll. He is being held without bond.

Sheriff’s detectives exhumed Tillman Moll’s body from a shallow grave Tuesday in the woods behind the Moll residence at 207 Sandridge Road.

The child, who turned 1 year old Tuesday, is in the care of Soyer Moll’s parents, Hank and Teresa Moll, who also live at 207 Sandridge Road, authorities confirmed.

“I don’t think it is fair for (the child) to live where her mother was killed,” said Pam Ladd, the girl’s maternal aunt. She drove from Goldsboro Wednesday to speak with local authorities about gaining custody of the child.

Ladd said the child deserved to grow up in a stable home.

Sheriff Ed Brown told the press Tuesday night that the Molls said they did not want to talk with news media, did not want reporters on their property and would consider phone calls to be harassment.

“I don’t think they ever cared about Virginia,” Ladd said. “I called them and asked for her daughter and they said, ‘no,’ and I said, ‘I’ll see you in court.’”

Tillman Moll’s cause of death has not been determined. An autopsy was scheduled for today at the N.C. State Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill.

Tillman Moll had been missing for three days when her sister filed a report with the Sheriff’s Department on Nov. 1.

Soyer Moll originally told authorities Monday that he intended to file a missing person report on his wife when he came to town later in the week to file separation papers at the courthouse.

After being questioned for several hours Tuesday by Sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Daughtry, Soyer Moll led investigators to where Tillman Moll’s body was buried beneath a fallen tree about a quarter-mile into the woods behind their Hubert home.

Soyer Moll was scheduled for a first appearance in Onslow County District Court this morning.

Brown told reporters that the slaying was a result of a domestic argument.

Tillman Moll wanted to move out of the Sandridge Road home and into a house for just her, her husband and her daughter, according to an Oct. 23 post on a MySpace page registered in her name.

Soyer and Virginia Moll attended Swansboro High School together and were married in September 2008, according to the Onslow County Register of Deeds.

Sam Quemuel, a fellow student of theirs at SHS, said Virginia was a good friend and “always there for you.”

“She was a good mother,” Quemuel said. “Not a day went by that she didn’t talk about her daughter. She loved that girl to death.”
