Man punches mother, resists arrest

Police take suspect by force

The Free Press

Police had to forcibly remove a man from an apartment in one of Kinston’s public housing complexes this week for allegedly punching his mother in the face and resisting arrest.

Officers with the Kinston Department of Public Safety physically restrained Trudell Montrell Hamilton after responding to a domestic disturbance at Carver Court, Apartment 8D, on Monday shortly after 8:30 p.m.

“He was upset and had to be restrained by officers and handcuffed,” Spencer said. “He did not want to be arrested.”

Upon arriving at the residence, Spencer said officers entered after knocking on the door and announcing their presence and noticed Hamilton’s mother had marks on her face comparable to an assault.

Hamilton was charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest and assault on a female and placed in the Lenoir County jail under a $3,000 secured bond. Paramedics treated Hamilton’s mother.
