Updated at 4:07 p.m.
A Progress Energy spokesman said that power has been restored to the nearly 500 customers without power off N.C. 24.
Dan Oliver said that a truck backed into a guy wire, which is used to support a pole, and that caused two phase wires to "slap together," knocking the feeder line out.
Oliver said the breaker at the substation was reset and power was restored.
