When drivers talk about tracks gradually improving after repaving, Atlanta represents the ideal. Since being reconfigured in the late 1990s, this track has become home to some of the sport's most exciting races. It's lightning fast, but yet there are still multiple grooves in the turns. Not every race here produces a side-by-side finish, but they have occurred with remarkable frequency ever since Kevin Harvick earned his first career win in his third start with a last-lap nailbiter over Jeff Gordon in 2001.
