Heavy storms moving into area

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are moving into the area.

The National Weather Service is reporting several bands of heavy rain with some embedded thunderstorms and wind gusts of up to 45 mph will affect Carteret and Onslow counties through 5:30 p.m.

One to two inches of rain and occasional lightning strikes are expected.

The affected areas include Jacksonville, Holly Ridge, Camp Lejeune, Swansboro, Emerald Isle, Richlands and Catherine Lake.
