Havelock News

Havelock police have arrested a second suspect in an armed robbery that happened Sept. 27 outside a nightclub.

Randall Marque Chandler-Baity, of Havelock, has been charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony larceny, possession of a handgun by a minor and possession of a stolen handgun, according to a release.

He is being held in the Craven County jail under a $250,000 bond.

Javon Anthony Ward, also of Havelock, was arrested shortly after the robbery and also faces multiple charges.

According to police, the two initiated a confrontation with the two victims around 2:15 a.m. outside Hot Shotz nighclub at 200 Roosevelt Blvd. One suspect punched one victim and took a chain from around his neck. The other suspect pointed a handgun at the chest of the other victim and demanded a necklace and watch, according to police.

Both suspects ran as police arrived, but Ward was captured a short time after the incident and was identified by the victims and witnesses, according to police.

When captured, Ward had a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun, which an investigation revealed was stolen from the New Bern Field and Stream store, according to police. Ward also had the stolen jewelry, which was returned to the victims.
