Newport, Peletier men face sexual assault charges

Two Carteret County men face sexual assault charges in unrelated incidents involving children, authorities said.

Shawn Alan Jordan, 38, of 187 Bucks Corner Road (Bucks Corner Mobile Home Park #1), Lot 3, Peletier, was arrested Wednesday by the Carteret County Sheriff's Office on charges related to his alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old acquaintance, the sheriff's office said.

Jordan faces 12 counts of committing a statutory sex offense with the girl when she was 14 and 15 years old, and 12 counts of crimes against nature, a news release on the arrest said.

The alleged incidents occurred from June 2007 through May of 2008, the release said.

Jordan was placed in the Carteret County Jail under a $500,000 bond.

In an unrelated case, a Newport man faces charges for the alleged sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl he knows, the sheriff's office said.

John Jeffery Fedorka, 44, of 236 Hilltop Road, was arrested by the Carteret County Sheriff's Office last week for the alleged crime.

Fedorka was charged with one count of committing a sexual offense with a child and one count of indecent liberties with a child.

He was placed in the Carteret County Jail under a $200,000 bond.
