Two arrested for robbery
Two men were arrested Thursday in a drug deal turned robbery, according to the Jacksonville Police Department.
Sevaughn Dyrese Mines, 20, of South Drive, and Ontario Lamont Gainey, Jr., 19, of Loblolly Court, were charged with the armed robbery of Jarrell Darius Downing, 17, of Mill Pond Road, according to a JPD press release.
Police say Mines and Gainey were conducting a drug transaction at 2560 Onslow Drive when they attempted to rob Downing. Downing called police at 1:30 p.m. Thursday to report he had been robbed at knifepoint by two men. During a search of the area, patrol officers located and arrested Mines. JPD detectives later arrested Gainey after determining he was involved as well, according to JPD.
Downing was arrested for possession of marijuana and released under a $500 unsecured bond. Gainey and Mines are being held under secured bond at the Onslow County Jail.
