A former Camp Lejeune Marine and source in a recent The Daily News article was sentenced to prison recently for indecent liberties with a child.
Keno Richard Phillips, 31, of Lenoir County, was sentenced to serve four months after being convicted of a 2006 incident of first-degree sex offense on a child. He was arrested and charged in Sept. 2008.
Phillips was a Marine sergeant stationed at Lejeune in 2005 when he was discharged from the Marine Corps for violating the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. He spoke with the Daily News in January about his disagreement with the policy and his willingness to become a spokesman to overturn it.
