Theives strike Stonebridge vehicles
Police say cars were left unlocked
Havelock police are reminding residents to make sure they lock their car doors after thefts from eight unlocked vehicles in Stonebridge last week.
The thieves made off with several items, including a digital camera, a DVD player, a GPS unit, a cell phone, stereo system face plates, and a dual screen DVD player.
"People need to lock their doors up," said Capt. David Bratton, of the Havelock Police Department. "They apparently all just walked down the street pulling door handles. All of them were unlocked, and none of them were broken into."
No arrests have been made.
The thefts took place late June 18 or early June 19 on Stonebridge Trail, Willow Run and Creekbridge Court.
Bratton said often stolen items end up being taken to pawn shops for cash. Bratton said he would encourage residents to record the serial numbers on all of their valuable equipment so they might have a chance of getting it back in case of theft.
"Many times when we do recover this property, we don't know who to get it back to," he said.
Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to call the Havelock Police Department at 447-3212.
