Not even the road races are weirder. Dr. Joe Mattioli wanted a unique track, so he built one. It's huge, diverse and triangular. That's right. It's known as an oval, but it's actually a triangle. None of the three straights or turns has much in common with the other two. All the turns are left, but racing here is sort of a cross between Watkins and Indianapolis. In the past, the second Pocono race has always been the one before Indy. This year, for the first time, Indy comes first.
