No owner is beloved more than Bob Bahre, the rugged individualist who built this track a few miles distant from the state capital in Concord.
The mile track was maligned when two drivers, Adam Petty and Kenny Irwin, were killed there in 2000.
Great progress has been made in recent years regarding the durability of the pavement. The track's flat turns make brakes important, and while races there are sometime tedious, they often reward driving ability.
