Infineon Raceway

Sonoma, Calif.

infineonraceway.com

While there are two road courses on the schedule, the two tracks have little in common. Altitude is as important as velocity here. The track rises and falls, and winning here probably requires more pure road-racing skill than Watkins Glen. Sight lines are also better, with the mountains providing panoramic views.

Once called Sears Point, this track has been astonishingly refurbished and expanded by Bruton Smith since he bought it. The Glen is more historic but also old-fashioned.
