Homestead-Miami Speedway

Homestead, Fla.

homesteadmiamispeedway.com

Even after NASCAR made this track the site of the season's final race, for a time it was difficult to draw sellout crowds. Here's a novel idea: Pay attention to the actual track instead of all the luxury boxes arrayed around it.

So they did. In 2003, the track was reconfigured by having "graduated banking" installed. In other words, the banking is greater at the top than the bottom, meaning that the fastest way may be around the top. It was a great move, and it now provides a fitting conclusion to the season.
