Updated at 5:36 p.m.
A man with a long history of criminal activity in North Carolina has been charged with driving while intoxicated after his bicycle collided with a truck, authorities said Thursday.
Stanley Ray Adair, 48, of Greystone Road was charged by the Jacksonville Police Department with driving while intoxicated and unsafe movement after riding his bicycle into the path of a 2011 Ford F250 pickup truck driven by Lori Lynn Rojas, 29, of Lionel Avenue, at U.S. 17 and Richlands Avenue at about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, said JPD spokeswoman Beth Purcell.
Adair was cutting through the Day’s Inn parking lot, Purcell said. He refused medical treatment.
He was also charged with civil revocation of driver’s license, according to the Onslow County court calendar.
Purcell said this is an administrative action taken by the court after a review of the charges and the accused’s prior criminal history. The court can suspend an offender’s driver’s license permanently or for a specific period of time based on the number of DWI convictions.
Adair has a criminal conviction history dating back to 2000 in Onslow, Guilford and Avery counties, which includes misdemeanor drunk and disorderly charges, driving while intoxicated, larceny and breaking and entering, according to the N.C. Department of Correction.
Bond was set at $500 secure.
