Accident reports

The following accidents were reported by the State Highway Patrol:

Accident time/location: Sept. 7, 6:45 p.m., 4.5 miles east of Kinston on Cobb Road.

Driver: Heather Nicole Herring, 18, 4987 Rex Howard Road, Pink Hill, in a 2000 Chevrolet.

What happened: Herring was traveling north on Cobb Road. The vehicle ran off the road on the right and overcorrected. The vehicle then ran off the road to the left, collided with a ditch and landed on a public driveway. The vehicle came to final rest facing south outside of the traffic way.

Damages: Damages to the vehicle were estimated at $2,000.

Injuries: None reported.

Charges: Herring was charged with driving left of center.

Accident time/location: Sept. 10, 1:44 p.m., in Pollocksville on Goshen Road.

Drivers: Bruce Conrad Young, 73, 405 Plantation Drive, New Bern, in a 1998 Chevrolet;

Mary Ward Collins, 53, 175 Goshen Way, Pollocksville, in a 1999 Ford.

What happened: Young was backing south onto Goshen Road while Young was traveling west on Goshen Road. Young's vehicle backed into Collins' vehicle and both vehicles were moved prior to trooper's arrival.

Damages: Damages to Young's vehicle were estimated at $100; damages to Collins' vehicle were estimated at $100.

Injuries: None reported.

Charges: Young was charged with improper backing.

Accident time/location: Sept. 12, 11:23 a.m., 8.1 miles south of Kinston on U.S. 258.

Drivers: Monica Denise Edwards, 29, 120 Murray Road, Snow Hill, in a 1999 Honda;

Jordan Scott Huggins, 20, 6518 Texas Ct., Camp Lejune, in a 1994 Saub.

What happened: Edwards an Huggins were traveling south on U.S. 258. Edwards was slowing to make a left turn into a private driveway and was being followed by an unknown vehicle pulling a trailer. Huggins attempted to pass and struck Edwards' vehicle in it's turn. Edwards' vehicle was moved after impact and Huggins ran off the road on the right, coming to rest in a shallow ditch. Huggins' vehicle did not strike the ditch.

Damages: Damages to Edwards' vehicle were estimated at $1,200; damages to Huggins vehicle were estimated at $1,500.

Injuries: None reported.

Charges: None.
