Accident reports

The following accidents were reported by the State Highway Patrol. These reports cover Lenoir and Jones counties:

Accident time/location: Aug. 5, 4:05 a.m., 3.3 miles north of Trenton on N.C. 41.
Driver: Leon Berry Oscar, 44, 606 Wyse Fork Road, Trenton, in a 1998 Toyota.
What happened: The vehicle struck a deer.
Damages: Damages to the vehicle were estimated at $1,200.
Injuries: None reported.
Charges: None

Accident time/location: Aug. 4, 11:53 a.m., 8.2 miles outside Richlands on N.C. 41.
Drivers: Lana Sue Bingham, 62, 404 N. Frisco St., Warsaw, in a 2001 Ford;
Henry Lederer, 70, 200 Bayswater Court, New Bern, in a 2003 Toyota.
What happened: Bingham and Lederer were both traveling east on N.C. 41. Lederer attempted to pass Bingham as she was making a left turn onto a private driveway. Bingham's vehicle collided with Lederer's vehicle. Lederer's vehicle drove off the road on the left and collided with a ditch. Lederer's vehicle came to rest in the ditch. Bingham's vehicle drove to the left shoulder of the roadway.
Damages: Damages to Bingham's vehicle were estimated at $800; damages to Lederer's vehicle were estimated at $800.
Injuries: None reported.
Charges: Bingham was charged with a safe movement violation.

Accident time/location: Aug. 4, 11 a.m., 8.8 miles south of Kinston on U.S. 258.
Drivers: Brian Anthony Graf Jr., 22, Three Edith Drive, Jacksonville, in a 2003 Mazda;
Lindell Lathan Hinson, 72, 233 P.A. Noble Store Road, Deep Run, in a 2003 Buick.
What happened: Graf and Hinson were both traveling south on U.S. 258. Hinson was attempting to make a right turn when Graf's vehicle struck the rear of Hinson's vehicle. Graf drove into a driveway on the northbound side of U.S. 258. Hinson drove to the shoulder of the road.
Damages: Damages to Graf's vehicle were estimated at $2,000; damages to Hinson's vehicle were estimated at $1,500.
Injuries: None reported.
Charges: Graf was charged with failure to reduce speed.
