Some Pamlico residents still advised to boil water

Some Pamlico County Water System customers who live along N.C. 304 are being advised to boil their water until at least Saturday morning.

The advisory is a result of the relocation of water lines under the Vandemere Creek Bridge, County Manager Tim Buck said. It affects customers from Vandemere to Mesic.

The relocation of the water lines is part of work to replace the bridge, the first of five to be replaced along the highway. Some customers experienced low water pressure or had no water for part of Thursday. Buck said customers will likely experience similar problems as each of the five bridges is replaced.

Buck also said that a boiling advisory for Goose Creek Island, which includes the Lowland and Hobucken communities, had been lifted.

He said the bridge work was being done by a contractor hired by the county, and did not involve mistakenly cut water lines. He said old lines had to be cut and reconnected to new ones beneath the creek.
