Pamlico students to sing and dance at dinner show
BAYBORO - A group of 26 Pamlico County High students will dance and sing Broadway, Disney and other songs Thursday and Friday nights at the school's annual dinner theater show.
For $20, people can take in the show, eat a dinner of shrimp or roast beef and help the high school's arts department, said Anne Watson, the arts coordinator for Pamlico County schools. Watson directs the high school's show choir and chorus classes.
"We've got a great medley of songs lined up," she said. "We do anything that will entertain. And this group can entertain."
The show choir won a grand championship at a competition April 18 in Williamsburg, Va. The group competed against choirs from across the country.
"We've done the dinner theater for the last 18 or 19 years," Watson said. "I think I'm going out with a career group here. They're all advanced choral students, and some have been in chorus for four years. I select them from my chorus classes."
Watson plans to retire soon. She said she began Pamlico County High's first choral group in 1990. She began the show choir the next year.
This year's shows will be Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. at the school. Dinner will be served both nights at 7. The shows will last about 90 minutes, Watson said.
People can call the high school at 745-3151 for ticket information.
