Cherry Point to open shelter, to implement weather plans

Havelock News

Cherry Point will transition into Destructive Weather Condition I at 4 p.m. today as Tropical Storm Hanna approaches, according to a release from the base.

Cherry Point will open the Cherry Tree House, located on 4th Avenue next to the Family Service Center, as a shelter at 6 p.m. today.

Aircraft aboard the air station have been secured in hangars, with only a minimal number being flown out of the area, according to the release.

A liberal leave policy has been set for civilian personnel, which authorizes annual leave for any civilian personnel who feel the need to depart early. Air station military personnel will be dismissed at the discretion of their supervisors.  The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing has dismmised all except essential personnel.

Cherry Point's ates will operate on normal schedules for the remainder of the day.

Updated work advisories are available at 466-3093. FRC East employees should contact the FRC East destructive weather line at 464-8333. DLA personnel should call 466-4083.
