Cape Lookout National Seashore has been awarded a National Park Service Youth Intern Program Grant for the summer of 2010 and is seeking applications from youth interested in working at the park.
The park’s grant award will fund the paid employment of four local youths from socially and economically diverse backgrounds to participate in a mentoring program within the park. Participants will work with the park ranger staff in a variety of duties within the interpretive, natural resources, and visitor and resource protection divisions.
The Mentoring Youth Toward Career Opportunities Project will also provide skills training in areas such as resume writing, filling out job applications, job searching, successful interview skills, practical skills for use within the workplace, and career opportunities with the National Park Service.
Students at Carteret Community College and rising high school seniors at the three county high schools may apply.
For information on the Youth Intern Program, send an e-mail to: calo_interpretation@nps.gov or phone Cape Lookout National Seashore at 252-728-2250.
