ECU to face Tulsa in title game
GREENVILLE - A week after earning a spot in Conference USA's title game, East Carolina learned its destination and opponent.
The East Division champion Pirates will travel to Tulsa on Saturday for their first-ever league championship game appearance. The Golden Hurricane (10-2 overall, 7-1 C-USA) won the West Division with a 38-35 victory at Marshall on Saturday.
The Pirates (8-4, 6-2) locked up the East Division with a 17-13 win at UAB on Nov. 22. They finished the regular season with a 53-21 home win over UTEP on Saturday.
The C-USA title game, which starts at noon EST, will be broadcast on ESPN2. The winner will represent the league in the Liberty Bowl on Jan. 2.
Tulsa has one of the top offenses in college football, topping the 45-point mark eight times this season. The Pirates lead the league in scoring defense, holding opponents to 20.5 points per game.
Tickets for the game are priced at $30 and are available online or via the ECU Athletics Ticket Office beginning Monday.
